Time Capsule

Published: 21 Jan '25

Article 24 - Children should have a safe and clean environment to live in.

Molly and Sandra from the Highways Agency came into school this morning to do a whole-school assembly about all of the work that has been taken place on the A1 motorway.  Sandra told us about all of the different ways they had helped the local area and communities by investing in school gardens, like ours, planting trees and building ponds to water them using waste water from the A1, or by protecting the nesting birds until they had fled their nests.

As part of the celebration for the completion of the A1 improvements, the Highways Agency buried a time capsule on our school grounds and planted some trees. There are plans for the time capsule to be dug up and reopened in 50 years time.  Each class added something to the time capsule like information about the classes, school, stationery and a dinner menu.
