Year 5 have been developing their skills in English to use similes, metaphors and personification in their writing. The children explored the outdoors to be able to help expand their imagination to write about nature using their new skills. The children could describe what the frost sounded like when they walked on it or how cold the air was. For example, "The cold felt like knives cutting through your skin," the word 'like' in the phrase helps us know this is a simile.
