Developing gross and fine motor skills in the Early Years May 14, 2024

Article 24: We have the right to be healthy.

As we begin to look ahead to the final Summer term, it has been a busy week in the Nursery throughout the week so far! All of the pupils have explored developing their motor skills both indoors and also when playing outside. Gross motor skills are the large, sweeping movements we make with our arms, legs and torso. We develop these skills from birth and throughout adolescence. Gross motor skills all help with balance, coordination, reaction times, body and spatial awareness. Once we have developed our large motor skills further – the Nursery class will also have many opportunities to develop their fine motor skills continuously throughout the day! You may wish visit a local park this weekend or have fun outdoors with water play! Enjoy Nursery class and keep your bodies and hands moving!
