Reasoned Rounding

Published: 9 Jan '25

In Year 4 we have recapped our place value knowledge and understanding of rounding. To apply and consolidate our understanding of rounding to the nearest 10 we worked on our whiteboards before playing Reasoned Rounding. In this game, the children had to roll two 0-9 dice and make a 2 digit number before rounding it to the nearest 10. They could then colour a semicircle of that value. The winner was the person who had the most full circles coloured. Once again, some children showed their competitive sides but most importantly all of the children showed their fantastic understanding of rounding to the nearest 10 and used their reasoning skills to try to win.
