Article 29: our education must encourage respect for human rights.
Article 31: we have the right to take part in a range of cultural and artistic activities.
This morning we had some visitors in school from the charity 52 Lives, delivering a workshop about the importance of kindness and how to be kind. The definition of kindness is ‘the quality of being friendly, generous and considerate.’
We looked at different ways we can be friendly, generous and considerate with our friends and other people in our lives.
We learned what empathy is – the ability to share how other people feel – and how we can show empathy towards others. We practised giving each other compliments and saying kind things to the people next to us. We then spread some kindness throughout the school by making kindness cards, posters or poems to give to people to brighten their day and show empathy. Just one act of kindness can go a long way and create a ripple effect.
