Following the RSPB Big Bird Watching Weekend the children in Nursery have enjoyed exploring the extensive, wider school grounds in all weathers. The children have enjoyed afternoon welly walks and morning bird feeding counts – making observations and trying to spot new birds in the school outdoor areas. The children have been keen to make pretend paper binoculars in the crafts areas and also access the science bird watching mini binoculars with their own hands.

This week the children have developed the ‘bird hide’ lookout play further and have begun to make their own dinosaur tents outdoors – as keen, budding palaeontologists! It has been wonderful to observe them in their dinosaur play and extend their own interests in their play. Whilst exploring the outdoor areas the children have revisited the same trees from Autumn and noticed seasonal changes from Winter as we head into early Spring. New buds, bulbs and spring plants are beginning to shoot in the outdoor area. The children have greatly enjoyed looking after the shrubs and new plants this week.
