Research in Action: Mathematical development in the Early Years

This year it has been wonderful to share a range of research tasks with all of the children in Nursery to develop and enhance their understanding of Early Number. Staff throughout the Early Years setting have embarked on different ways to enhance the learning opportunities for all children in the setting. The Nursery team have specifically focused on Welcome Time opportunities and the Reception team have focussed on Snack Time and Track games tasks to develop mathematical development for all learners.

Throughout this final Summer term it has been wonderful to see all of the children engage and respond to the mathematical games, tasks and books which have been provided in provision. Both the Maths Number Area indoors and Block Play has been a focus. The children are able to select a range of new Mathematical resources independently in their self-led play.
